About Linguistica

Linguistica was created in 2006 by Joëlle Sampy who did research for ten years in French language and linguistics at Ph.D. level and has taught these subjects in French and British universities. She taught French as a Foreign Language at the INSEAD in Fontainebleau (one of the world's top business schools). As a lexicographer, she worked on several French monolingual dictionaries, in particular, the Grand Robert de la langue française in nine volumes which is the French language reference, and on bilingual dictionaries like the Collins-Robert French-English Dictionary which is also the reference in its field. Joëlle Sampy has also worked on many educational French language textbooks for a number of major French publishers (including Hachette, Didier, Nathan). She has also translated several linguistics books from English to French, notably Essays on Form and Interpretation by the well-known American linguist Noam Chomsky. This extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience in various aspects of French language has served as the basis for developing Linguistica's French language courses.
